Earlier this evening the Super Bowl was played. It is one of
the most watched events on television, both for the game, and the commercials.
In my opinion the commercials this year were not nearly as good as they should
have been, or have been in the past. They rarely made me laugh, and only one or
two actually made me say, “Now that was a good commercial.” I was rather disappointed;
I’d give the commercials an overall grade of a C-. Aside from the commercials,
and power outage, I really enjoyed the Super Bowl.
Yes you read that right…a power outage. Shortly after
halftime a little more than three fourths of the stadiums electricity went out.
There was a 37 minute delay as we all waited for play to resume. The outage did
nothing but help the San Francisco 49ers. The Ravens ran the opening kickoff
after half back 109 yards for a touchdown. That gave the Ravens a 28-6 lead,
and they showed no signs of letting up. This is when the lights went out.
Killing almost all of the momentum Baltimore had. The 49ers came out of the delay
and scored 17 to come within five points of the Ravens. The 49ers now had the
momentum, and what looked like a potential blowout, has been made into a great
game.
In the fourth quarter teams traded six points. Near the end
of the quarter the 49ers were down by five inside the red zone. They threw a
floater into the end zone…incomplete. It appeared the receiver was held, but
there were no flags. All the Ravens had to do was get a first down and run out
the clock. They failed to do so and were forced to punt. On the snap the punter
ran around in the end zone killing ten seconds then stepped out to give the
49ers a safety. The Ravens now had to kick the ball away, up by three with two
seconds left. The 49ers failed to run it back and so the AFC Champion Baltimore
Ravens and older brother John Harbaugh will be bringing the Lombardi Trophy
home to Baltimore. (WC 360)
